As this article says, there are reasons for any of the three, depending on what you are doing. There are comparable 9mm burdens for silencer use, yet they aren’t as weighty, so there’s less energy to move. My first pistol was a CZ75 9mm – bought it for two reasons it was half the price of the Beretta, and the salesperson said, “You can throw it on the ground, run over it with a truck, pick it up, and it will still shoot.” I still have it, and I’ve put about 3,000 rounds through it, and it fits me really well.
